The Richard Burton Mysteries are complete!

‘What’s that?’ you say? After explorer Richard Burton’s death, his wife Isabel burned his journals dated April-August 1860 ‘to protect his reputation.’ All that we really know was that he was in the United States, making his way to the Utah Territory to write about Brigham Young and the Mormons. What was he up to during those months that so offended his jealous wife? I have some ideas.

Check them out if they sound like something that might interest you.

If you’ve visited my website in the past, you may remember that I would sometimes write a short review of new books I’d read. I really didn’t think of them as ‘reviews’, so I called them ‘Snarky Comments About Books.’

I wrote 843 Snarky Comments About Books. I stopped writing them in 2020, and when it came time to decide whether to include them in the updated website, I decided I wouldn’t. But to give you an idea of what I was doing, I’ve brought over my comments about forty of my favorites over the past twenty years.
